Examples

• "Je ne comprends pas cette question."

  I don't understand this question.

• "Le prix comprend le transport."

Usage

One of the most common French verbs. Note the two main meanings: (1) to understand / grasp, and (2) to include / comprise. Common with indirect objects and infinitives: "comprendre à" (to understand about), "comprendre que" (to understand that). Avoid confusing with *entendre* (to hear) or *apprendre* (to learn).
