Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of getcerto.io and the Certo application ("Service"), operated by Victor Taiwo ("we", "us", "our").
By using Certo, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What Certo is
Certo is a language learning tool. It provides translation, an AI-powered dictionary ("Dictionary"), verb conjugation, and an interactive AI chat feature ("Tutor") to help learners understand a language more deeply.
2. Accounts
You may use Certo without creating an account (subject to free tier limits). If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
3. Free tier and usage limits
Without a Pro subscription, usage is limited to:
- 10 translations per day
- 5 Dictionary look-ups per day
- 5 conjugations per day
Tutor is available to Pro subscribers only.
Limits reset at midnight. We reserve the right to adjust these limits with reasonable notice.
4. Certo Pro subscription
Certo Pro removes daily usage limits on translations, Dictionary look-ups, and conjugations, includes access to Tutor, and may include additional features as the Service develops.
- Subscriptions are billed at £3.00/month via Stripe.
- Tutor is subject to a fair use limit of 100 Tutor messages per day, which resets at midnight. We may adjust this limit with reasonable notice.
- You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain Pro access until then.
- We do not offer refunds for partially used billing periods except where required by law.
- Prices may change with 30 days' notice to active subscribers.
Your 14-day cancellation right. If you are a consumer in the UK, you have a statutory right to cancel your subscription within 14 days of purchase and receive a refund. Because Certo Pro is a digital service, we ask you at checkout to expressly request that your subscription starts immediately and to acknowledge that, once you begin using Pro features, you lose the right to a full refund for that initial period to the extent of the service already supplied. This does not affect your right to cancel future billing periods at any time.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Certo for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service at scale
- Circumvent usage limits through technical means
- Submit content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others through the translation or Tutor features
- Use the Service in a way that interferes with other users or the infrastructure of the Service
We may suspend or terminate your account, or restrict your access to the Service, if you materially breach these Terms. Where reasonable, we will warn you and give you an opportunity to remedy the breach first.
6. Intellectual property
The Certo name, logo, and all original content on the platform are owned by us. You retain ownership of any content you submit (e.g. text you enter for translation) — you grant us a limited licence to process it solely to deliver the Service.
7. Third-party services
Certo relies on third-party AI providers (Anthropic, Google) to deliver translations, Dictionary entries, conjugations, and Tutor responses. The quality and availability of these features depends on those providers. We are not responsible for the accuracy of AI-generated outputs — Certo is a learning aid and translations should not be relied upon for official, legal, or medical purposes.
8. Availability
We aim to keep Certo available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or discontinue the Service at any time, with reasonable notice where possible. In the event of discontinuation, pro-rated refunds will be issued for any unused subscription period.
9. Service standards and disclaimers
We provide Certo with reasonable care and skill. However, Certo is a learning aid: we do not guarantee that translations, Dictionary entries, conjugations, or Tutor responses will be error-free or suitable for any particular purpose, and AI-generated content can contain mistakes.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (for example, the right to services performed with reasonable care and skill and to digital content of satisfactory quality).
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law, and nothing in this clause limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country in which you live, and you benefit from any mandatory consumer protections of that country.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
