Usage

Fagoter is relatively informal and somewhat dated. The first sense (bundling) is more literal and less common today. The second sense (doing something poorly, hastily, or shoddily) is more frequent in modern French, especially in the past participle form "fagotté(e)" used as an adjective. Related noun: fagot (bundle).
