Usage

Discutir is a regular -ir verb and is the most common way to express both neutral discussion and heated disagreement in Brazilian Portuguese. Context determines whether it implies respectful dialogue or quarreling; when heated, it's often used with "com" (with) or paired with words like "brigar" (fight). It is slightly formal but appropriate in most registers.
