Usage

Common verb in everyday Brazilian Portuguese. "Namorar" implies a more serious, committed relationship than just "ficar" (to hook up/make out). Use "namorar com" or just "namorar" + person (both constructions are acceptable). The expression "namorar a ideia" means "to toy with/consider an idea."
