Usage
Most commonly used reflexively (resignar-se) meaning "to resign oneself to" something, typically followed by "com" or "a". When meaning to accept something reluctantly, it carries a sense of surrender or passive acceptance. For resigning from a job, "renunciar" or "pedir demissão" are more common in Brazilian Portuguese.
